Why AMC Cinema will not serve unfiltered tap water

I am writing on behalf of AMC Cinema in response to the letter from Ms Rebecca Spence, dated November 2 (“Left high and dry by request for tap water”).

The customer queries why the AMC theatre forced her to buy bottled water instead of topping up her own bottle with tap water.

We would like to clarify that our staff did not force the customer to buy bottled water, we just offered it to her as an alternative when she asked for tap water. It is not safe to offer tap water to customers if we don’t have a filter, not to mention when the customer is pregnant. In response to the complaint letters the customer sent us, we sincerely explained that we were concerned about offering unfiltered tap water to her, and had no intention of forcing her to buy bottled water.

From the perspective of the cinema, we will not provide food and beverages that we don’t feel are “safe” to offer. We at AMC Cinema respect our customers, but we also are responsible for our actions and customer safety.
